For nearly 10 years Squid Industries has established a reputation for well-built, innovative designs in the balisong industry. With our experience in the EDC space, we've been slowly gathering information to cook up the absolute best EDC possible. Using design inspiration from our legendary Krake Raken, and other prominent and established knives such as the Protech Mordax and MachineWise Sonora, we've gathered all of the best ideas into one epic knife--The Surf.

The Surf utilizes integral 7075 T6 aluminum handles for an extremely durable platform. For those who aren't familiar, integral (also known as channel) signifies that the handles are machined from one solid billet of material rather than combining two thinner slabs to form the handle. The manufacturing process of an integral handle is far more complex compared to other handle styles, but it produces a much more rugged and lower maintenance design. The handles have received the same satin finish and machined texture that is found on the Krake Raken for a comfortable feel in handle while still providing a firm, comfortable grip.

The Surf's blade is made from CPM S35VN, a well respected steel in the knife sphere for it's corrosion resistance, edge retention, and toughness. We produced it with a beautiful satin bevel and flat and hand polished the outer contour for even more stunning look.

A folding knife's heart is the pivot mechanism, so we went with the absolute best in town--Skiff Workshop. Skiff has been making the highest quality caged ceramic ball bearings for many years now and is regarded as the absolute pinnacle of folding knife smoothness. For many knife collectors, upgrading a knife to Skiff bearings is sometimes the first thing to do if you want to maximize its performance.

The Surf is proudly designed and manufactured in the USA at our facility at San Jose, CA. Each Surf is engraved with a unique serial number on the inside of each handle.
